Me & a calamondin tree

I became a graphic designer through an unexpected twist of family persuasion. My husband’s mother owned a creative agency and was eager for us to relocate to her area, so she offered me a job. The promise of a steady paycheck was huge to my recent-graduate status, and I thought, “Why not?” (Setting aside the obvious complexities of having your mother‑in‑law as your boss...) Fortunately, she ran an excellent studio, and I had the opportunity to learn from an award‑winning designer who had relocated from New York City. I discovered I genuinely enjoyed the work, and a career took shape.

Not long after, I joined a new company where I spent many fulfilling years. A combination of supportive coworkers, a family‑oriented environment, a flexible schedule, and the autonomy of being a one‑person design department made it a great fit. Eventually, as the market shifted and the owners retired, it became clear the company’s future was uncertain. I decided it was the right moment for a complete change. Long fascinated by the sciences, I returned to school and recently earned a degree in Biochemistry with a 4.0 GPA. The break from the design world turned out to be exactly what I needed—it renewed my energy and perspective.

I eventually found my way back to marketing and design by accepting a digital design role at a large state government agency. There, I overhauled the entire print publications catalog and finally put my time in Florida State’s film school to use by taking on the agency’s video production work. After several years handling the creative side of the department, I was promoted to a supervisory position. Building a strong internal and external communications team has been incredibly rewarding, but I’ve realized how much I miss the hands‑on creative work.

Outside of work, I live on a small farm where my husband and I raise citrus trees alongside our dogs, cats, and horses. I love being outdoors and staying active; I’ve completed multiple half‑marathons and several sprint triathlons. A loyal Seminole, I am also an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly soccer and football.
